For some, composition by improvisation can become addictive. Hours can be spent creating & recording. Then there is the wonder of finding gems among all that noise. Jamming towards an uncertain future, it is left to each musician's own devices as to where the music will flow.

String Theory (guitar/bass/drums)

Where No Strings Attached ends with the only song using a loop, this set of songs (with exception of one) were developed utilizing loops as a starting reference. In addition to adding another instrumental voice, loops allowed for manipulation of time, timbre, pitch, and direction of the additional sound(s).

The musicians are grouped s follows:

Remnants of Short-term Memory circa 2003
Version 1 - The Sirens / Pick Up Sticks / Ping / Soft Hail
Tim Higgins - Bass and Drum Machine
Jim Skeel - Guitar & loops (Electro-Harmonix 16 second
delay and Boomerang Phrase Sampler)

Unlike Minds - Atlanta, GA circa 1993
Version 1 - More Than Answers / Pierce The Veil
Dave Skeel - Drumming
John Batch - Guitar (Left Channel)
Jim Skeel - Guitar (Right Channel) and loops (Electro-Harmonix 16

Unlike Minds - Atlanta, GA circa 1993

about

Jam Science Kansas City, Missouri

A lo-fi digital box set, this website, hosted by Jim Skeel, celebrates collaboration through improvisation.
Jam Science is not a band but 4 compilations of instrumental music by musicians who wrote and performed these tunes while “jamming”. Each group of compositions features a different type of music. There is no leader here, just a quixotic adventure of sound & rhythm.
