For some, composition by improvisation can become addictive. Hours can be spent creating & recording. Then there is the wonder of finding gems among all that noise. Jamming towards an uncertain future, it is left to each musician's own devices as to where the music will flow.

A Few Strings Attached (electronica)

The cast of characters for these pieces center around the musicians who performed in Short-term Memory in Kansas City, MO or Dave and Jim Skeel's friends in the Atlanta, GA area.

S&L Crysis
Recorded during the Skeel family Thanksgiving get together week at Dave's home in Snellville, GA circa 1989/1990.

Toy synths proved to be a boon to jamming . They were advanced enough to have built in drum machines with push button fills.

Dave Skeel - Toy synthesizers
Jim Skeel - Toy synthesizers, loops (Electro-Harmonix 16 second delay)
Bobby Lentz - Guitar run through a Zoom 9002 guitar processor

Mobile Gundam Suit
This is the earliest version of what was to become the band Short-term Memory. Most of the songs here are from their first weekend Jam in November 1982.

Kevin Dooley - Roland Jupiter 4 Synthesizer
Jonathan Karl Paul - Mattel Synsonic Drums (push button drumming)
Jim Skeel - Korg Polysix Synthesizer

Jim Skeel
Inclement Weather - Korg MS 20 & Korg Polysix synthesizers -1983

about

Jam Science Kansas City, Missouri

A lo-fi digital box set, this website, hosted by Jim Skeel, celebrates collaboration through improvisation.
Jam Science is not a band but 4 compilations of instrumental music by musicians who wrote and performed these tunes while “jamming”. Each group of compositions features a different type of music. There is no leader here, just a quixotic adventure of sound & rhythm.
